Two persons on the run after cheating Rs 52 million brought to Nepal from Cambodia
Kathmandu- Two persons, absconding after the INTERPOL red corner notice was issued against them on the charge of cheating people, were arrested in Cambodia and they have been brought to Nepal.
Binu Shakya, a resident of Mankha in Sindhupalchowk district was arrested at the coordination of INTERPOL’s Cambodia bureau and brought to Nepal for action, said Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General, Dan Bahadur Karki. Shakya had been absconding after cheating Rs 52 million from more than 40 people promising they would be sent to Singapore for foreign employment.
A red corner notice was issued against them on February 2, 2024 after Nepal Police Crime Investigation Department Interpol Branch requested Interpol to search and arrest accused Binu Shakya and Sujan Acharya of Triyuga municipality-10 in Udayapur district.
Following the red corner notice from Interpol, both of them were arrested from Cambodia on September 17, 2024. Of them, Sujan was brought to Nepal on October 25. Binu has been handed over at Police Circle, Kalimati, for further action.
