The sports experience session was held in cooperation between Nepal and Japan
Kathmandu – Sports experience has been completed in Bhaktapur Changunarayan Municipality Ward No. 5 Pikhel since August 28th. About 30 local residents participated in the session.
This sports experience session was held as one of the activity of “Sports for Tomorrow”. Sports for Tomorrow (SFT) is an initiative promoted by Japanese government that aims to spread the value of sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Movement to people of all ages around the world, including developing countries, through international exchange and cooperation through sports. Roshan Thapa, Nischal KC, Sagun Khichaju and two Japanese coached the participants.
Additionally, from Nepal Baseball and Softball Association, president Dipak Neupane and senior vice president, Pradeep Khatri also participated. Due to the rain, the session was reduced from the initial plan, but by the thought of the organizer that they want to inform the joy of doing sports to as many people as possible. They did running, the game using balls and so on. As the result, some participants said that “Though I don’t have to custom to do sports, I would like to do sports every day”.
One of the organizers of this session is a Japanese NPO, Nippon Asia Baseball Friends Club Laligurans (Laligurans). Laligurans celebrates 25th anniversary in this year and proceeding “Japan Nepal Sports Exchange Program 2024 – 2025” for one year. The purpose of this exchange program is to deepen the friendship between Nepal and Japan through sports.
The session on September 28 is one of the events of this exchange program. And this exchange program is recognized by SFT which is the activity of Japanese government. By the way, in the morning of this day, Kathmandu Marathon was held. One of the Japanese coaches Kobayashi Yohei also participated in it and completed the race in 3 hr 23 min, ranked 3rd place among forging runners. He also hopes to develop the relationship of Nepal and Japan though sports.
