Nepal register thrilling win over Malaysia

Nepal have defeated Malaysia by 10 wickets in a match played today under the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Asia Qualifiers tournament underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The match was held in Maleka Cricket Stadium in UAE.

With this victory, Nepal have registered fourth consecutive win in this tournament. Before this, Nepal defeated Singapore, Kuwait and Hong Kong. In the match against Malaysia today, Nepal achieved the ordinary 73-run victory target in nine overs without losing any of its wickets. Nepal’s both openers were not out. Opener Deepak Bohara hit 38 runs while next opener Arjun Kumal collected 21 runs. Malaysia, who won the toss and elected to bat first before this, collected a total 72 runs in 35.3 overs, losing all wickets.

Akram Malek hit the highest number of 26 runs for Malaysia while Mohammad Harrison and Mohammad Syahir Syamil made 12 runs each. Deepesh Kadel took four wickets while Akash Chand three Malaysian wickets. Similarly, Milan Bohara took two wickets and Subash Bhandari one. Nepal will play their last game against the UAE on March 2. Along with Nepal, Singapore, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the hosts UAE are taking part in the tournament.

The winner team of this tournament being held on the Round-Robin basis will qualify for the U-19 World Cup Championship to be held in Sri Lanka in 2024.
