President to be elected on basis of national consensus: Tourism Minister Kirati
Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati has said the President would be elected on the basis of national consensus. Since the President is the symbol of national unity, the President would be elected on the basis of national unity, he said while talking to journalists at Tumlingtar of Sankhuwasabha today.
According to him, the CPN (Maoist Centre) is making maximum efforts to elect a national consensus President who is acceptable to all the parties including the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML). “There is no alternative to selecting a President on consensus. The UML and the Nepali Congress will also agree on a consensus President,” he said, adding that the present coalition government of the UML and the Maoist Centre will not break for now.
On a different note, he described tourism as the backbone of economic development and called for promoting tourism with unique Nepali characteristics through fusion of natural and human resources and typical cultural heritage. Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Kirati also observed the under-construction building of the Tumlingtar Airport today.
On the occasion, he directed the construction company to complete the construction of the building by coming April 13 and hand it over to the government. He also took information regarding the problems at the Tumlingtar Airport.
