Rishi Sunak becomes British Prime Minister

A 42-year old South Asian-origin Rishi Sunak became the Prime Minister of United Kingdom.
The third Prime Minister in two months, Sunak is tasked with tackling a mounting economic crisis, a warring political party and a deeply divided country in one of the greatest challenges to confront any new leader, according to British media.
Sunak, one of the richest men in parliament, will have to find deep spending cuts to plug an estimated 40 billion pound ($45 billion) hole in the public finances due to an economic slowdown, higher borrowing costs and a six-month programme of support for people’s energy bills, reports the media.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has congratulated Rishi Sunak for his election as the leader of the Conservative Party and the next Prime Minister of the UK. “I extend warm congratulations to Rishi Sunak on being chosen as the leader of the Conservative Party and the next Prime Minister of the UK,” PM Deuba wrote in his Twitter om Tuesday.
While wishing Sunak all the best for this important responsibility, PM Deuba also said that he looks forward to working with the British PM to advance the longstanding Nepal-UK relationship.
