KU begins Master’s in Media Studies

Kathmandu University (KU) has launched Master’s in Media Studies Programme from this academic year.
The University is running the Master’s in Media Studies from the Department of Languages and Mass Communication of the School of Arts, according to Dr Sudhamshu Dahal, the head of Department of Languages and Mass Communication. He said that the Masters in Media Studies will cover media entrepreneurship, management and media related dimensions.
He also informed that a total of 20 students would be enrolled for this programme. The issues of culture, film and technology would also be taught in this programme.
KU’s Associate Professor Dr Nirmal Mani Adhikari said that one-fourth of the course would be based on research projects besides theoretical knowledge and technical skills. “The total cost of the programme is estimated around Rs 400,000 and 20 per cent of the total students would get scholarship, added Dr Dahal.
The KU has been running Bachelor in Media Studies programme since 2006.
