CNI and UK Aid sign MoU for producing skilled human resources

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the UK Aid’s Skills for Employment Programme have signed a memorandum of understanding for implementing the workplace-based employment training programme. CNI president Bishnu Kumar Agrawal and SEP project team leader Baljeet Bohra signed the MoU here on Tuesday in the witness of Arjun Prasad Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. On the occasion, Secretary Pokharel said the government has forwarded the workplace-based employment-oriented training programme with the goal of training skilled human resources required for the industrial sector. He hoped that this MoU would be key to implementing this programme.
The Industry Ministry Secretary said the programme would be expanded and the budget for it increased in the future based on its effectiveness. CNI president Agrawal said it is the CNI’s responsibility to produce the skilled human resources needed for the industries. He said the ‘Make in Nepal’ campaign aimed to create 150 thousand jobs annually. As per the MoU, the CNI and SEP project will work together for training skilled human resources in the commercial agriculture, production industries, tourism, information technology and construction sectors in Province No 2 and Lumbini province.
