The team of pro Sanjay Lama won the Dharan Open Golf Tournament Pro-Am title at the par-69 Himalayan Golf Course, Pokhara on Friday.
Pro Sanjay was teamed with amateurs Babu Poudyal, Pratima Sherpa, and Maj. Bejoy Moktan, they Rai, they accumulated 164 points to win the trophy. Pro Sanjay scored 38 points, Babu got 48 points, Pratima carded 40, Maj. Bejoy had 38 points.
The team of pro Sanjok Tamang (36), amateurs Raj Kumar Rai (37), Brig Gen Sudersan Silwal (36) and Mithun Rai (35) finished second with 144 points.
While the team of pro Dhana Bahadur Thapa (36), amateurs Sushma Sigdel (35), Pavitra Kumar Karki (35) and Samyog Shahi (35) accumulated 141 points to finish third.
Phintso Ongdi Lama bagged closest to the pin and Shyam Tamang got the longest drive.
In all, 80 players including 16 pros took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford full handicap format. Top pro scorer was automatically teamed with top three amateurs for the winning team. Similarly, fourth, fifth and sixth amateur scorer was teamed with second best professional scorer for runner-up team and amateurs finishing seventh, eighth and ninth were teamed up with the third best professional for the second runner-up team.
Honorable Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kiran Gurung, Honorable Sherdhan Rai, AIG of Nepal Police Hari Pal, Kaski District Golf Association President Lacchim Prasad Gurung, Director of Himalayan Golf Course Roshan KC, and Assistant Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. Bikram Thapa handed over the prizes to the winners.
On the occasion Nepal Golf Association ren wed its commitment for the development of Golf basically to start youth and girls development program and established a committee in Gandaki Pradesh and also handed over 10,000 golf balls and Rs. 100,000 to support the program. Nepal Golf Association has provided education and Golf scholarship to Sukra Bahadur Rai, Subash Tamang, Pratima Sherpa, Ajit BK, Anshu Limbu among others
