Forest resources to be linked to prosperity: Minister Basnet

Minister for Forest and Environment, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has said the Ministry was making efforts to link the forest resources to national prosperity.
Inaugurating the 8th Herbs Expo-2019 here Friday, Minister Basnet shared the information that the Ministry was also amending necessary laws and policies for the multipurpose use of forest sector. Together with this, structural reforms were going on, he added.
The expo organized by Nepal Herbs and Herbal Producers’ Association has aimed at promoting Nepal’s medicinal herbs and herbal products to the international market. The expo is to continue for three days at Chhaya Centre of Thamel, Kathmandu.
On the occasion, Association Chairman Godinda Ghimire said there were fifty stalls showcasing various herbal products. He also made aware the Ministry that the entrepreneurs of the herbal production were facing various problems, so Ministry’s due attention was needed to address these.
Interaction and talk programmes would also be held in course of the expo.
