NARTC launches ‘healthy lifestyle clinic’

The National Ayurveda and Research and Training Center ( NARTC) has launched the ‘Healthy Lifestyle Counselling Clinic’. Yoga and rehabilitation facilities are available in the clinic began from today on the occasion of the National Yoga Day-2074 BS that is celebrated on the first day of Nepali month Magh.
The opening of the clinic was announced in the presence of Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki who said healthy lifestyle and healthy human resources were preconditions for building a healthy nation. Practices of Yoga and meditations would surely help us live a healthy life and thus making us capable to contribute to the building of a healthy nation, he said, pledging his role to expand the center’s organizational structures to all seven provinces.
“Nepal holds the 32nd among the countries rich in biological diversities, proper utilization of such valuable gifts of nature is still awaited,” he added.
Center executive director Dr. Siddhartha Kumar Thakur said the one and only objective of the center was to conduct research on Ayurved science, protect and promote it and use it for the healthy life of people. According to him, they are thinking to establish a digital library to increase public awareness on the importance of Ayurved science and practices of yoga and meditation for living a healthy life.
Singhadurbar Vaidyakhana Vikas Samiti managing director Dr. Banshadeep Kharel and Nepal Aayurved Medical Association chair Dr. Prakash Gyawali insisted on the need of increasing budget for the promotion of this field and increasing quotas in the Master’s degree programme.
The construction of center’s building was funded by the Government of China and was handed to Nepal in 2011. The building was constructed at the cost of Rs 680 million and the Chinese government had also provided medical equipment worth Rs 240 million required to operate it.
