Thai Airways International celebrates Golden Jubilee in Kathmandu

Thai Airways International Public Co Ltd organized an event in Kathmandu on December 4 to mark its 50th anniversary of operation into Nepal.
Thai started its first flight to Nepal on December 4, 1968 and is the first ever passenger jet service airline to introduce Nepal to rest of the world. Thai used to operate once a week flight in the beginning which soon increased to additional of more flights due to high demand. From October 1997, it started daily flights with A300-800 aircraft and introduced B777-200 from November 1998 to support visit Nepal Year 1998 which continues till date.
During these 50 glorious years journey, Thai Air has created many milestones. In February 1985, Thai Airways became the first airlines to introduce computerized reservation system in Kathmandu and provided this facility to its leading travel agents from 1990.
Besides this, Thai has continuous expansion at route serving new destinations/network, its own Silk Class Lounge, own Ground Handling services, Royal Orchid Holidays packages, own technical handling services, the first in-flight magazine –Sawadee, a press releases issued by the airlines reads.
Thai has also been carrying out uninterrupted and regular CSR activities like Blood Donation every year on July 31, yearly cataract surgery camps, cardio check up and health camps, and stationary distributions to orphanage schools.
Thai has given Token of Appreciation Award to The Royal Thai Embassy in Nepal, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Tribhuwan International Airport Authority, Nabil Bank and Hotel Annapurna.
