First-ever engineering course begins in Nirmal Secondary School

Damauli-Among the five community schools in Tanahu district to obtain permission for starting courses in vocational education, Nirmal Secondary School at Bhadgaun of Byas Municipality-1 has begun three-year Civil Engineering course for the first time since Monday. 
The course was launched in view of the growing demand of this discipline and the need, said School Principal, Ganesh Chandra Basnet, adding that there would be more subjects added in the course such as Science and Survey among others. 
Established in 1965, Nirmal Secondary School currently boasts of altogether 900 students including 300 of those in the ten plus two level, according to Basnet. 
The government had chosen this school to develop it as a model one last year and had allocated Rs 15 million for the same, shared Basnet. 
"The new generation were very enthusiastic for taking up technical subjects and the new course is launched keeping in mind their interest and the scope of this discipline," informed the buoyed Principal at the inaugural of the new academic programme. 
Furthermore, he shared there would be altogether 35 intake of students for this year. "So far 20 students have been enrolled for this three-year course while five would be admitted through scholarship quota." 
The School has prepared a master plan amounting to Rs 770 million which is aimed at upgrading the physical infrastructure and educational programmes in the School. 
School Management Committee Chair Tam Bahadur Darai said that plans were afoot to launch the Survey subject in the next year and develop the School as the best academic institution for the technical education. 
District Coordination Committee, Tanahu Chairperson Shanti Raman Wagle argued that the technical education was the need of the hour given the unemployment in the country. 
He was of the view that such education would help in job creations and would curb the increasing trend of foreign employment among the youths in the country.
