The ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa and Man Bahadur BK, Chairman of the Ward No. 2, Gharapjhong Village Municipality, on Thursday signed a grant agreement to construction of an embankment along the Kali Gandaki River in Marpha, Mustang District.
The Government of Japan has agreed to extend a Grant Assistance of 350 million yen (¥350,000,000), equivalent to about Rs 324.8 million, to Nepal for implementing the Food Assistance Program in Japan’s fiscal year 2017.
China has donated over 32,000 solar power generating systems to Nepal to enhance its domestic capacity and to provide electricity to communities that have been without power since the 2015 earthquake.The donated items included 32,000 sets of household solar power generation systems and 325 sets of solar power generation systems.

The Nepal Army (NA) is planning to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) of the Kathmandu-Terai Madhes expressway on its own. China has partnered with UNDP Nepal to provide US$ 4 million to support recovery efforts in Terai region affected by one of the worst floods in recent history. UNESCO has shown concern on the construction of a commercial complex at the Hanumandhoka World Heritage Site. Issuing a press note, it said that UNESCO did not stop or allow constructions on or around a World Heritage Sites. "This is the role of the national authorities concerned, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Department of Archaeology," it said, adding, "When UNESCO receives information with concerns on World Heritage Sites, it verifies the information with the concerned parties."
